The formatting that was applied to the cell that had "Physics" in it originally has been applied to the entire new merged cell. So, why didn't the "Merge and Center" button center the word physics? Well, that's because the button only centers horizontally. To center vertically, we need to select the new merged "Physics" cell and go back to the format menu to change the vertical alignment of the new cell to "Center". Should you need to unmerge merged cells, simply select the cell, go to the format window and deselect the "Merge Cells" box. With what you've learned you should now be confident enough to continue using "Merge" on your own. Use the other subjects on the timetable to practice merging using different alignments and formatting. |
